Our department participated in an airport disaster exercise held at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport. The scenario involved a SAAB 340 passenger aircraft with landing gear problems that crashed at the airport. An actual aircraft fire simulator was used for the exercise.
Emergency personnel has to extinguish the fire, rescue the victims and transport them to St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. Many emergency organizations from across the county participated.
