The Town of Pelican Fire Department is located East of the City of Rhinelander in Oneida County Wisconsin. We operate out of one centrally located station and our 30 members maintain and operate five pieces of apparatus. We provide fire suppression and first responder emergency medical services to the towns 54 square miles along with providing mutual aid through countywide agreements. Please check back often, as things will be updated on a regular basis. Our major calls and some not so major ones will be posted on here so you will know where all the sirens went the other day. |

Saturday, June 21, 2008 - Rescue 1 and Engine 3 responded to a one vehicle accident with injuries and one person trapped in the vehicle. The Jaws of Life were used to remove the patient and both the driver and passenger were transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital for injuries.  |

Thursday, June 12, 2008 - The department purchased Freckles the Firedog through an Assistance to Firefighters fire prevention grant. He was manufactured by Robotronics in Springville Utah. Friday, June 6, 2008 - As storms moved through the area, we responded to power lines down on Hixon Lake Road, East Lake George Road and Old 8 Road. There was a wildland fire started on Old 8 Road caused by the downed lines. Units were on scene for approximately 2 hours extinguishing the fire. |

Thursday, June 5, 2008 - Units responded to a house hit by lightning on Reuckert Road. Upon arrival crews found the house filled with smoke and the ground had been layed open from a large tree to the house. Monday, June 2, 2008 - The department responded to an accident involving a jeep and a dumptruck. The occupants of the jeep were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of injuries. |

Thursday, April 10, 2008 - We have officially placed our new Rescue 1 in service. This 1989 Ford/Saulsbury heavy rescue was purchased from Blakely Borough Community Ambulance in Peckville PA.
